Due to stocktaking, the library will be closed from 1 June to 29 July 2013.
During
this time, the lounge without library services will be open to the
public as usual from Tuesday to Sunday, 10.00-17.00, Thursday
10.00-18.00.
The library will open again on Tuesday, 30 July 2013.
During the exhibition «tütatoo. The ear on tour» there will be a listening station of the Swiss National Sound Archives at the reading room in the library.
The Swiss National Museum’s publicly accessible library
specializes in archaeology, art history, cultural history, Swiss
history, museology, restoration and conservation.
The library’s collection currently includes some 70,000 volumes as well
as approximately 800 current subscriptions to periodical. There is an
emphasis on exhibition and auction catalogues. Of particular note is the

Use of the library
The SNM library is a reference library with a reading room and photocopying facilities. Most items can be borrowed over the weekend (from Friday to Tuesday). However, you are advised to order books in advance by e-mail or phone.

Acquisitions made since 1994 can be found using the NEBIS catalogue (NEBIS = Network of Libraries and Information Centres in Switzerland): www.nebis.ch
Acquisitions made before 1994 may be found by using the subject card index at the reading room. A preliminary inquiry by email or telephone is the best approach for this old stock.
