The Coin and Medal Collection
Ten-franc bond issued by the Seeländische Wasserversorgungs-Genossenschaft on 15 November 1920.
The museum’s numismatics
cabinet houses some 100,000 objects, including bank notes, securities, credit
cards and dies in addition to coins and medals. Its timeline runs from Celtic coinage to currently valid tender, both
metal and paper. The
museum is the only institution that systematically collects coins from all
across Switzerland. With
roughly 30,000 pieces, its collection of Swiss coins is probably the largest of
its kind in the world.
