1. The Mediaeval and Architectural Ceramics Collection

The Mediaeval and architectural ceramics collection comprises archaeological finds mainly from the canton of Zurich, with a few examples from other cantons as well. The important assortment of Late Mediaeval stove tiles is representative of Switzerland as a whole, and documents the golden age of the potter’s trade in Zurich in the 14th and 15th centuries.

2. Modern Ceramics

The collection comprises stove ceramics from the 16th to the 19th century, objects created by individual potters and potteries from various Swiss regions in the 18th and 19th centuries, the production of the Swiss faience, stoneware and porcelain manufacturers from the 18th century until the present day, and porcelain and faience from France, Germany and Italy as well as some items imported to Switzerland by the Compagnie des Indes.
