Swiss commercial graphics has been highly regarded internationally since the 1920s. It forms an important part of our country’s cultural heritage. The Swiss National Museum (SNM) and the Swiss Graphic Design Foundation (SGDF), which was founded in 2010, have concluded a cooperation agreement and are jointly building a representative collection of works by important Swiss graphic designers. In this endeavour, the SGDFs person and work-centred approach and the SNM’s focus on Swiss history complement each other perfectly. The constantly growing collection is currently housed at the SNM Collection Centre in Affoltern am Albis. From 2016, it will be an intregal part of the new study centre at the National Museum Zurich, and will be open to the public.
